A Multidisciplinary Pathway for the Diagnosis and Prosthodontic Management of a Patient with Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ)

Background: Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ) can occur as an adverse reaction to several antiresorptive medications such bisphosphonate. It presents clinically a necrotic exposed bone. Several factors including tooth extraction and ill-fitting dentures increase risk osteonecrosis development. Case Report: A 72-year-old female who had partial denture that caused bone traumatic ulcer on left posterior mandible. Bony sequestrums were removed submitted for histological examination, which confirmed diagnosis MRONJ. Conclusions: This case illustrates importance identifying all associated with MRONJ by dentists reduce its development in patients receiving medications. Moreover, at should be screened carefully regular basis dental adjusted or removed.
